Suspended for not reciting pledge of allegiance?

Hello Hitler, so nice to see you! 3 students refuse to stand for pledge of allegiance (something i’ve always thought reminded me of living under Nazis or Stalinist Russia)……

One of the administrators says: “These three [students] didn’t, and they got caught,” said Mel Olson, the district’s community education director. He said he backs the punishment, “being a veteran and a United States of America citizen, absolutely.”

So nice to meet you, Hitler. Long time no see…

$3,000 bottles of booze? several $300,000 cars?

Buyers this year have already closed on 71 Manhattan apartments that each cost more than $10 million, compared with 17 apartments in that price range during all of 2007. Last week, a New York art dealer paid a record $1.6 million for an Edward Weston photograph at Sotheby’s. And the GoldBar, a downtown lounge, reports that bankers continue to order $3,000 bottles of Rémy Martin Louis XIII Cognac.

“When times get tough, the smart spend money,” said David Monn, an event planner who is organizing a black-tie party on May 10 for dignitaries and recent purchasers of apartments at the Plaza Hotel; the average price there was $7 million. “Short of our country going on food stamps, I don’t think we’re doing anything differently.”

In October, Marc Sperling, the 36-year-old president of an equity-trading company, bought a new condo on the Upper West Side in a building where four-bedroom apartments like his cost more than $4 million. When he moves into the completed building next year, he plans to hold on to his other two apartments in Murray Hill and Miami Beach — each of which he values at about $2.5 million.

Constitution Doesn’t Apply in the U.S.A.!

Wow, many great things we continue to learn thanks to the “freedom of information act” that forces the gov’t to give up documents when you sue for them.
Yoo drafted a 20-page memorandum offering up suggestions on how Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable searches and seizures would be applied if the U.S. military used “deadly force in a manner that endangered the lives of United States citizens.”

Yoo came up with a number of different scenarios. He suggested shooting down a jetliner hijacked by terrorists; setting up military checkpoints inside a U.S. city; implementing surveillance methods far more superior than those available to law enforcement; or using military forces “to raid or attack dwellings where terrorists were thought to be, despite risks that third parties could be killed or injured by exchanges of fire,” says a copy of the little known Sept. 21, 2001 memo. read-article-here

Chomsky-Interventions Interview

Great new interview posted at Znet Chomsky-Int
……
One of my favorite lines:

Take Barack Obama, for example. In this morning’s (Nov. 2) New York Times, a front-page story reports his foreign policy stance, based on an exclusive interview. It opens by reporting that if elected he would offer “a possible promise not to seek `regime change’” if Iran stopped “acting irresponsibly” in Iraq, stopped supporting “terrorist activities,” and cooperated with the US on “nuclear issues.” Not a promise, just a possible promise in reward for “good behavior.” The threat of force is, of course, a serious violation of the UN Charter, but that seems not to be a matter of concern. The idea that Iran is acting “acting irresponsibly” in Iraq can indeed be raised: on the assumption that We Own the World, so that if we invade and occupy another country, any interference with our actions is “irresponsible.”

The System is Failing…ALERT: THE SYSTEM IN FAILING US!!!

Finally, capitalism is collapsing on itself. That seems to be the only way to destroy it, but unfortunately, many millions of people will suffer while the rich continue to do just fine. ……
Unless of course, we decide to take it out on the rich, and take this country back and give it to the people!!! credit-collapsing

I ALWAYS KNEW MOSES WAS HIGH-FINALLY, THE TRUTH!!!

Pretty interesting article here. I have long assumed that people had to be experimenting with drugs thousands of years ago. I mean, why wouldn’t they?

Thousands a Month for Clothes, AND $10 Million Boats???

While the poor struggle to eat everyday. What a great country!!! I might cry for this poor rich asshole
Just look at the cutbacks by Dali Wiederhoft, a 52-year-old marketing executive from Reno, Nev., made skittish by a volatile stock market, a 20 percent decline in her home value and recession fears.

Over the past three months she pared her spending on clothes to $500 per month from about $3,000; that means no more Jimmy Choo shoes and David Yurman jewelry. Her cutbacks also included canceling the services of a cleaning woman and a lawn care company. She also plans to trade in her BMW for a Ford when her lease expires in about a month.
